There’s been a few reports in the last several weeks of people getting accosted on the hiking trails in this area.

WTF? HIKING TRAILS??? Are the criminals getting more desperate, or more stupid?

Today Keith looked at me and said, “Do I need to start hiking with a gun?”

Indeed.

And it’s not just some guy trying to pull a lone woman off the trail. One guy went after a pair of women, and in this latest incident some guy went after a man and woman.

Again, desperation or stupidity, or both? I’ve lived here 17 years and have never heard of this kind of crazy. Generally I hike in a group of 5-10 people, but still. This is craziness.

What has the world come to, when you can’t even go for a hike without being armed?

I weep for the future. I truly do.
